Reducing Water Consumption by Reducing Shower TimesWhen you go for a shower, how long do you take? Do you spend 15 minutes in the shower? If you do, you may be wasting a lot of water. As the world runs out of freshwater, it is incredibly important that we do what we can to limit the amount of water that is wasted. A lot of water is wasted in the shower, so by limiting your showers you can help the environment.
During a 10 to 15 minute shower, roughly 150 to 250 liters of water is wasted. However, if you take a five minute shower, you can save 75 to 175 liters of water. Take a look at these figures to see exactly how much water is wasted over the course of a year with long showers.
In contrast, look at how much water can be saved by having a shower that is only five minutes long.
When you shower for only five minutes, you also save money. You are saving 75,700 liters of water per year when you go from a 20 minute shower to a five minute shower. That means you pay a lot less on your water bill. A great way to make sure you only stay in the shower for five minutes is to have an egg timer in there with you. When the egg timer goes off, you get out of the shower.
Saving shower water is a great way to help the environment each morning by saving one of our most precious resources; water. | |||
