Making Eco-Friendly Liquid SoapThere are many liquid soaps that you can buy on the market these days that claim they are eco-friendly. However, you have to be on guard for greenwashing, which is what many companies do. Greenwashing involves saying something is green by putting “All-Natural!” or “Eco-Friendly” on a package when the contents are anything but. In fact, the only way to protect yourself from greenwashing is to make the products yourself. When you garden, you know the food you grow is organic because you grew it yourself. When you clean with vinegar, you know you cleaned with an eco-friendly product because you used it yourself. What about dish soap? Is there anything you can do to make liquid soap that is eco-friendly? Yes, there is.
To make liquid soap, do the following:
Now you will be able to take this mixture and not only use it for dish soap, but bubble bath as well. One of the great things about using eco-friendly products is the fact that you can use the products for so many things. Not to mention that you can save money when you make your own products. The ingredients above will cost you about five to 10 dollars total. However, you will be able to make about 10 or more mixtures with that, so that each mixture costs you one dollar to make. You can’t beat that type of price at the grocery store where many eco-friendly dish and liquid soaps cost as much as 10 dollars each.
Remember to keep and eye out for greenwashing as it has become a serious problem. Look at ingredients to determine what is actually in the product and research online so you can find the products that are actually green, and not just saying they are green in order to sell products. You want to protect your family and your pocketbook, so don’t be paying more than you need to for products that are anything but what they say they are. | |||
