How To Install Solar Panels

Solar panels are changing the world as more and more people try to get off the grid by putting solar panels on their home. If you have bought solar panels, then you just need to follow this easy step-by-step guide to putting solar panels on your home.
- First, do an energy audit of your home so that you can find out how many panels you are going to need based on how much energy you use. You will need to conserve energy with your solar panels, but knowing how much you use on average will help.
- Using a stud finder, find the position of the rafters on the roof. This is where you will be securing the solar panels. Mark the place to put the mounts and measure how much space each panel is going to need.
- Drill pre-drill holes for the mounts.
- Drill the mounts into the roof. Use lag bolts because these will help secure the panel completely in place.
- Attach rails to the mount. For this, use 3/8 inch bolts.
- Put the solar panels on the rails.
- Now, run a conduit from the panels down to the convertor in your home. The convertor must be secured properly so that if there is a storm it is not going to break free. This convertor is what takes the energy gathered by the panels and converts it into electrical energy in your home.
Solar panels are becoming cheaper and cheaper as the years go by. New technology is allowing for solar panels that cost less and provide much more power. In fact, there are even solar panels out there that conform to any surface, even wrapping around. This means you can create an entire solar roof for your home using solar panels.
One important tip with your home is to make sure you put your solar panels in a place where they are going to collect a great deal of solar energy. You want them to face south because they will collect the most energy. If your solar roof points north, the you will just end up with a small amount of energy. As well, be sure to conserve energy in your home, otherwise you may find that you are running out of power because your solar panels can’t provide you with enough juice.
