A Recycled Tire Roof For Your Home
When you need to replace your roof, there are several ways that this can be done. You can get a metal roof that collects rain water. You can install a sod roof that allows you to grow a garden on the roof, or you can put tires on your roof. When we say put tires on your roof, we do not mean finished tires, but recycled tires that have been turned into shingles. Many companies have been offering recycled tires, that used to be on vehicles, as an alternative for roof shingles. They are recycled, they are environmentally-friendly and many people feel they are the best roof shingles that they have ever had.
How these roofs are made is by taking old tires and grinding them up into rubber powder. Then, the tire powder is put into rubber form and poured into molds that resembles shingles made of wood and slate. The reason for this is so that the tires have a similar look to regular shingles, making them much more popular among consumers. However, they differ greatly from typical shingles because they are cheaper, more flexible, lighter and much more durable. Slate shingles can be damaged during shipping and installation, but it is not possible for rubber tire shingles to be damaged in the same way. By putting these shingles on your roof, you are also saving money because these shingles are lighter and do not need special roof framing to support their weight. These shingles are so well built, that they come with 30 to 50 year warranties. The shingles also come in many colors and styles, allowing you to fit the exact look you want for your roof.
There are some disadvantages to rubber tire roofs of course. The biggest is the fact that tires smell, and therefore your roof can smell like old tires when the shingles are first installed. As time goes on though, the smell will disappear, usually within a few weeks.
If you are thinking about replacing your roof then you should look at getting recycled tire shingles. These shingles are good for the environment because they keep tires out of the landfills, and they help to give your home a roof that is strong, durable, light-weight and cost-effective. This is why these shingles have become so popular around North America in just the past few years alone | |||
